My weekend of showers

My babies and I were spoiled rotten last weekend with not one but two showers. The first one was in Orlando and thrown by my mom's friends who just so happen to be my second mothers. The shower was gorgeous, the cake was the cutest thing I'd ever seen and seeing everyone was just what I needed.

My second shower was here in Tampa and was thrown by my sister, mom, mother in law and sister in law. It was held at one of my favorite little spots in Tampa. The theme was perfectly me, the food was fabulous, and I loved getting to see my friends and family.

Here are pictures of both days:

28 July 2013

25 weeks

{sorry for the delay! With my showers being last weekend and family being in town the blog got away from me last weekend, and I don't have a belly picture:( }

How far along: 25 weeks

Weight gain/loss: +15 lbs. at 151, I might have to stop posting this soon... haha

Maternity clothes: shorts and pants, yes! Still loving my maxi dresses!

Sleep: this is getting easier each night.

Best moment this week: We had a few this week:
- We had a peri appt. on Monday and learned my vasa previa has moved away from my cervix (about 1cm) --- details below in health update.

-we had our newborn care class

-We were showered twice this weekend and are so blessed by all the love and gifts for the boys!

Food cravings: No specific cravings but still eating lots of fruit.

Food aversions: still meat and big portions

Movement: lots and lots
 Gender: BOYS!

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks and lower back pain

Looking forward to: putting all the boys things away and doing some serious nesting.

Baby/Momma Update: My Peri appt on Monday should have lasted 20 minutes, but instead we were there for over an hour. The tech usually does all the boys measurements (every 2 weeks they get their bellies, kidneys and stomachs measured for Twin to Twin and every 4 weeks they get full measurements) After measurements are in our Peri comes in and lets us know how everything is looking. Boys this week were still sharing perfectly! Then the tech checks my cervix (which was a 3.8) and vasa previa with my doctor in the room so he can make sure he sees everything.
When they went to look at/measure my vasa previa, the room went silent and my doctor took over the ultrasound machine and was still quiet for about 20 minutes. He kept saying "I know its here" and then would push on my stomach to move Grayson's head. I of course was in a full on sweat and panic wondering what was happening.
To make a long story short my vasa previa has moved from its last location which was right up against my cervix to about 1cm away. This is a good thing. He told us if it keeps moving away, we will likely consider keeping the boys in to 37 weeks, which made us REALLY happy! At our 30 week appointment he said he would more than likely make the call. So fingers crossed!

26 week update coming tomorrow and shower pictures later in the week!

14 July 2013

24 weeks

{ugh, this picture is so awful, sorry for my appearance. My hair needs highlighted, and I have ZERO makeup on in this picture. I've had too many Braxton Hicks today to justify crawling upstairs to do anything about it. So, all natural B is what you get tonight folks}

How far along: 24 weeks, 5 Days

Weight gain/loss: +14 lbs. at 150, not going to lie, I cringed when they had to move the "big" numbered bar to "150"

Maternity clothes: shorts and pants, yes! Still loving my maxi dresses! (I've tried to try a few maternity t-shirts I bought earlier on, but they are still too big)

Sleep: Still struggling with this a little. Hard to get comfortable, and I wake up about every 2 hours after being in the same position that long with my entire body hurting. I asked my doctor about it, she said its totally normal.

Best moment this week: We had our hospital tour yesterday and I learned so much more than I knew just by asking people who had delivered there. The BEST was that the new NICU rooms at my hospital are private to each baby or set of babies. The room also has a pull out couch/bed, TV and full bath, AND parents are allowed to stay there 24/7 once mom has been discharged from the hospital. This news brought so much relief and happiness! I am so excited that if my littles have to stay in the NICU for longer than when I am in the hospital, I get to just move into their room after I am discharged (and so does hubby!)
The rooms were amazing! Our hospital just added on and is in the process of renovating the original part.
Here are a few pictures of the rooms: (hubbs said it looks like a Westin, and I agree)

mother/baby room:

NICU room:

Food cravings: Dry strawberry mini wheats, watermelon, my yogurt parfait, crispex, sprite, apples, chocolate chip muffins, tootsie pops

Food aversions: still meat and big portions

Movement: I believe I have jumping beans in my belly!

Gender: BOYS!

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks, insomnia, a little bit of anxiety

Looking forward to: We have an appointment on Monday with our Peri, so we get to see the littles and see how much they weigh and make sure they are still sharing. I will also get an evaluation on myself to see how my body is holding up!

Baby/Momma Update:

I had an OB appointment on Thursday and both heart beats were great and my belly measured at 30 weeks! So we are right on track!

Orlando was great! I loved seeing everyone and feeling a sense of normalcy. After the third day my body started to retaliate against me, so I went home a night early. But I am so thankful I got to go!

My mom's sweet friends are throwing me a shower in Orlando coming up on Saturday and my sister, mom, mother in law and sister in law are throwing my shower in Tampa on Sunday. We ended up keeping both of these showers small and with local guests, as I could still go on bed rest at any moment and wouldn't be allowed to attend these if so. (fingers crossed my body is keeping up Monday and I get cleared for another week of no bed rest!)

hope y'all had a great weekend!
thank you for all your sweet e-mails, comments and IG comments on me and the littles! We appreciate your thoughts and prayer so much!

sorry for the late post tonight, I had a very important message on my chalkboard this weekend and waited until the last minute to erase and put up 24 weeks. Here was that special message....

she said yes for the both of them since he is working the ER tonight until 11pm. But the message will be waiting on an ipad for him tonight when he gets home!!!

07 July 2013

23 weeks

How far along: 23 weeks, 5 Days

Weight gain/loss: +12 lbs. at 148 no weight gain this week (although last week at the docs office, the nurse told me the scale was "weighted" so maybe that means it added a few which would make sense)

Maternity clothes: shorts and pants, yes! Still loving my maxi dresses!

Sleep: this got tough again this week. I officially have a baby on each "side" of me. They moved to being side and side instead of on top of one another. When I sleep on my right side, Grayson punches and kicks, and when I lay on my left side, Greer does the same. "I have to sleep on my sides boys, back and stomach aren't an option" so I've resorted to sleeping sitting up again, when it gets bad.

Best moment this week: We had another great appointment on Wednesday at our peri's office. (details at the bottom on this post ) and I got cleared to go to Orlando for my show!!!!! (whoo hoo!!!)

Food cravings: Dry strawberry mini wheats, watermelon, my yogurt parfait, crispex, sprite, apples, chocolate chip muffins, tootsie pops

Food aversions: still meat and big portions

Movement: lots and lots

Gender: BOYS!

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks, insomnia, a little bit of anxiety.(with 11 weeks left, everything is starting to seem real)

Looking forward to: We have one appointment a week in July, and July has 5 weeks in the month. I love being able to see my littles and look at what's new with them.

Baby/Momma Update: Our appointment went great on Wednesday. Both boys are sharing perfectly, which makes me incredibly happy.
Grayson (A):
HR: 145
Weight: 1 pound 5 ounces
Percentile : 50th

Greer (B)
HR: 144
Weight: 1 pound 5 ounces
Percentile: 51st

As for me, my cervix is still holding strong at a 4.0! Which is one of the main reasons I get to go to Orlando.
Keeping track of my cervix on here, might be a little TMI, but for any mom, especially any multiples mom, you know how important this is. With multiples, when you go into your first appointment with your peri doc (and even your OB) one of the first things out of their mouths is, "women's bodies aren't meant to carry multiple pregnancies" its by chance that your body can handle it. Typically if its your first pregnancy you have a better chance at your body being able to support a multiple pregnancy. Not that it happens for all first time pregnancies, but both doctors have told me first full pregnancies with multiples have a better shot, as that's all my body knows.
The measuring of the cervix is the doctors guide to your body's support in carrying a pregnancy, whether its a singleton or multiples.
As you remember, if my measurement drops below a 3.0 I will be in the hospital for the remainder of my pregnancy, so my measurement is always a celebration for me:)

We also got a letter with our "official" surgery date and time. I got the envelope and was totally expecting a bill, but was shocked when I opened the envelope and got my official letter. (I thought they would just schedule it next time I was in the office) Everything just got really real. The boys have an official birth date. We were given the week for sure, and I've been using my exact 34 week day to go by, but now having an actual official date is terrifying, exciting and surreal all at the same time. (and the date they gave me is with the doctor who gave me all that extra "lovin'" I needed last week, so I am thrilled about that)

I'm not certain I am going to share the date as I am one to get easily overwhelmed. So for now, we've decided to keep the date between us and close family. There will be so much going on that morning, that I will just wait to announce when they are here, situated and we are settled in.

hope you all had a great weekend!
it's off to Orlando for me tomorrow! (I'm doing the happy dance as we speak)
